LEICESTERSHIRE lies at the heart of the East
Midlands and although mainly rural, has several concentrations of population such as the
city of Leicester and market towns like Market Harborough, Melton Mowbray, Hinckley and,
of course, Loughborough. |
The M1 motorway bisects the county north to south and the mainline railway links London
to the south and Newcastle to the north.
East Midlands Airport lies about 5 miles from Loughborough giving the region extremely
good transport connections.
At a slower pace the Grand Union Canal passes through Loughborough as it wends it's way
through the county.

Old John is a landmark in the area, surrounded by a large area of public park-land known
as Bradgate Park.

This part of the county is well endowed with extensive
